Nike has always been extraordinarily lucky, something he attributes to a keen awareness of his astrological fortunes. Specifically he unerringly follows the daily pronouncements of Sister Annabeth Hera, a mildly infamous astrology reader on Aerelon. (Also, incidentally, his third cousin.) Nike once had his entire astrological forecast mapped out for the next ten years and printed in a palm-sized notebook. He keeps this handy at all times, checking it daily and following it's advice religiously.
Nike's luck, in fact, got him the job he has today; lead test pilot for the Griffon project. Though it is known to few Nike managed to catch certain senior Archimedes Corporation executives at a Triad game on a particularly good night. In a rare moment of ambition he managed to secure his name at the top of the list for the position. But his luck wasn't exclusively good that particular night, as it happens. The man previously expected to win the coveted plum assignment was Mark Daymude, a Major in the Caprican Civil Defense Air Corps and likely the best Caprica had to offer. Though Nike is a good pilot in his own right (clearly superior to hear him tell it), Daymude could have and should have been assigned the position. A few favors called in and the prerequisite greasing of the right palms soon revealed that fact to Daymude as well. Since that day the two have been bitter enemies. Daymude seeks some measure of vengeance for having the job that would have made his career (and paid extremely well comparatively) unjustly taken away from him. Nike...well, Nike just can't stomach the notion that some Caprican weekend warrior might be worthy of such a prestigious (and well paying) job. He is more than a little insulted that anyone would even dare compare their talents.
As to Nike's few other personal relationships he is well aware of Deacon and Sun's decidedly odd one, considering the friction it sometimes causes between the two men. He generally doesn't let it bother him nor hamper his growing friendship with Sun. But since he doesn't have much respect for the ugly grease monkey he's not above goading him on occasion just to get a rise out of him. An actual brawl hasn't erupted between the two yet and Nike is perhaps a bit too confident that it never will. Since he doesn't believe the rumors that Deacon once killed a man with a single blow he's not overly concerned that it could.

Sun hails from Caprica and has never left the colony. She has always been a little naive and always eager to help the misfortunate and the downtrodden. She attended the Caprica City University on a scholarship where she pursued studies in both electronics and medicine, earning high marks in both. She began her career as a surgeon and her internship was in a free clinic in Caprica City where she developed a very uncharacteristic prejudice toward Sagittarons. She never completed her internship though as an overly ambitious Archimedes recruiter talked her into a contract with that corporation that she really didn't want. Once she figured out what she had signed on for she was too meek to seek out the legal recourse to free herself and simply resigned herself to it. Her natural talents with technical matters helped her reach a coveted position with the corporation and then finally a seat on the Griffon project. By then she had developed a real love for her work designing technical specs for spacecraft as well a lot more backbone. She still wants nothing more than to return to her work in the medical field but feels she has obligations with the company and projects she can't bring herself to let go of until they're completed.
Sun is very much aware of Deacon's attraction to her and finds it terribly burdensome. Generally she finds him quite attractive as well, in his own unique way, but as he's generally behaving like a possessive jerk she hasn't even considered pursuing it.
Though odd, very quirky and a little selfish, she has found a good friend in Nike. Even so, she sometimes irritates her as much as Deacon does with his constantly teasing the other man. She fears more than anything that the two will come to violence one day though she's confident she can defuse the situation with a stern talking to. She doesn't feel any particular attraction for Nike, or have room in her life for a romantic relationship at all for that matter, but she doesn't make allowances for Deacon's behavior either.

Deacon started out as amateur boxer in Caprica's underground full contact fighting circuit. Though his "career" seemed promising in the beginning things turn bad soon when he accidentally killed an opponent during a fight. While he earned something of a name for himself for a while since he'd killed the man with his first blow, that time has long since past. Deacon spent the last several years in prison for manslaughter before finally being released on a work program. Now he works on the Griffon project for Archimedes Corporation, a job his uncle got for him. Left to his own devices he would probably have never gotten such a cushy job as his life has been cursed with bad luck.
Deacon also suffered some minor but noticeable disfigurement during his fighting years, mainly scars and his nose being tilted slightly to the side after being broken so many times. As a result of this Deacon's self esteem is pretty low and he is always seeking some way to make himself look better to other people, usually only causing him more trouble.
Since Deacon met Sun his life has become even more difficult. He knows he has a bad habit of developing unhealthy attachments to the women in his life and he knows that Sun is no exception. Making matters worse she has developed a very close friendship recently with Nike, who Deacon really doesn't care for. Nike seems to have had good luck all his life while Deacon has had just the opposite. Deacon doesn't wish him any particular harm exactly but since the man has a habit of pushing his buttons and especially playing on his jealousy for Sun he figures it's just a matter of time before he has to put the little punk in his place.

[*New Trait: Jealous [d4]
You have a possessive fixation with another person. This could be a spouse, lover or someone with whom you have no romantic relationship at all. While not necessarily an obsession it does make interactions with that person, or more specifically with their acquaintances, sometimes difficult. Due to you're jealous nature you are prone to confrontational or at the very least rude behavior whenever you feel the relationship you have (or desire to have) with the person may be threatened. In some instances even the slightest show of interest by another is enough to provoke at least rude behavior from you. This is primarily a role playing Trait, though when so provoked the GM may add the Trait die to a Difficulty or opposed roll.]
