Faces of Evil: Erythnul temple
The team descends down the tunnel a ways before finally coming to a chamber littered with stalactites (Stone Forest). All fail spot checks to see the Grimlocks hiding behind the stalactites and are surprised when javelins start raining down on Gutter.

With the caves clearly inhabited the kobolds refrain from lighting torches or lanterns and go on by Darkvision. Toerag Hides and moves ahead to the next chamber where, when it becomes clear she hasn't been spotted, she Takes 20 on a Spot check. She spots the two krenshar nearby to the left as well as the stable master hiding over near the cliff edge.
Reporting back to the others they all opt for a surprise attack and run straight for the stable master.

Gutter moves quickly down the slope to one side of the Stable Master.
Toerag moves quickly to take position at the Stable Master's flank.
Rue moves off to the side away from the Krenshar, keeping the Stable Master in her line of fire.

Gutter cowers against the far wall for a moment longer before collecting himself and returning, shame-faced, to the group. Toerag naturally teases him unmercifully, to Rue's irritation. He redeems himself a bit by putting the remaining Krenshar out of its misery and sparing them the duty.
After the Rue/Toerag duo do their search thing around the cavern (finding four agates and a huge ruby at a campsite nearby) the team heads back to the central chamber, closing and locking the stone door. Giving the secret knock at the Temple of Hextor, the skeletons let them in again and the team elects to camp out in the Tiefling's Guard Room. With the bells on the skeletons outside alerting them to visitors they leave the door open, take turns standing watch. They rest for 8 hours.

With everyone rested, the team returns to the ledge where they fought the Krenshar. After examining the spikes driven into the wall and deciding they don't trust them, the team drive their own pitons into the cliff and let down a rope. Gutter being the best climber, they let him go first followed by Toerag and then Rue (who isn't sure she can overcome her fear of heights).
As soon as Toerag has begun her climb the two Grimlock archers on the opposite ledge attack.

While Rue and Toerag cover him from the cliff, Gutter attempts the climb again to be sure no other surprises await them here. Once he's made it down safely the girls follow while he guards the area. Rue manages a spectacular Will check and is able to climb down without freaking out. Together again at the bottom they send Toerag ahead to scout.
Taking 20 on a Spot check she spots a Choker ahead. Stepping back to the group she points it out until the other two see it as well. Still unnoticed by the creature they decide to attack while they have surprise.

Before they can beginning searching the area they hear a thud and a grunt behind them. Looking back they see a lone Grimlock regain her feet and face them, snarling. (Grimlock takes 8 damage from the fall.)

After Gutter gets Rue to use the wand of cure light wounds on him, she and Toerag search the area and the corpse, looting the place thoroughly. Once that is done the claw their way up the rubble pile until they reach the cliff wall where Gutter scale up until he reaches the ledge. Hanging on long enough to Take 10 on a Spot check he sees nothing and so eases over onto the ledge. Letting down a rope for the others he pulls Toerag up first and she then aids him in pulling up Rue.
When Gutter moves onto the rope bridge to cross over three Grimlocks quickly approach up the tunnel behind them with javelins in hand. Neither group is surprised as the Grimlocks expected to find intruders coming over the bridge from the other side.

Searching the area and looting the bodies uncovers nothing interesting so the team continues their original trek over the bridge, through the tunnel and up to the ledge where the first Grimlock Archers fired on them. Checking these bodies, Toerag seizes the Tanglefoot bags for herself and the team moves out back where the last attack occurred. There Rue uses her wand on everyone, bringing them all up to full health.
Moving up the path the team sends Toerag ahead to scout. At the edge of the tunnel she spots two Grimlocks up a rise near the entrance of another cavern. They are arguing loudly about something. Gesturing the others forward she points them out.
The team moves back down the hall a ways to discuss strategy, then move out. At the end of the tunnel Rue cast Ghost Sound (a quiet voice talking softly) near the first rise to the east, hoping to draw the two Grimlocks away from the cavern entrance and turn their backs. It works well and both of guards leave what they're doing to cautiously move toward the sound. Rue wields her crossbow and Wand of Ray of Enfeeblement. Toerag wields both her weapons and sneaks up the rise behind the two guards without being heard.

Gutter ends his Rage
Cursing their lack of healing potions, Toerag fetches Rue's Wand of Cure Light Wounds and puzzles over it for a bit. After several tries she manages to activate the wand and heal Rue of 1 point of damage. Making a couple more attempts she gets a result of 8 points healed from the wand, enough to rouse Rue. Rue, in turn, heals the team of their damage with a prodigious amount of wand charges.
Moving down the remaining tunnel the team notices the air grow musty and smelly until they can see a fire or lantern glow around somewhere inside the chamber ahead. Toerag scouts ahead but is spotted. As a cry goes out near the entrance of the chamber Toerag drops back to the group and they prepare to repel an assault. When no rush of Grimlocks come barreling down the tunnel, only to continued sounds of shouting in the chamber, the team moves forward cautiously until they can see into the chamber. The guards, rather than pursue them, have formed a rough line down the steep slope on the floor of the chamber.
Realizing they're preparing for the kobolds to come charging into the room the team wield bows and take position at the end of the tunnel.

Toerag again attempts to use the Wand of Cure Light Wounds to heal Rue but, to her dismay, rolls a natural 1 and can't make the attempt again for 24 hours. With little other choice Gutter and Toerag drag Rue to the side and they make camp for a while. Toerag spends a little time searching and looting the cave complex but everyone otherwise rests. Within sixteen hours Rue is conscious and uses the wand to cure herself, while Gutter and Toerag have recovered naturally. Once everyone is prepared, they head back to the stone door to this place and Toerag tries the silver key she found Grallak Kur on the northern door. It opens easily and the team prepare to enter what is apparently the last temple.
